So here it is, 3:15pm the afternoon before the 3nd of November (Radiothon!) show and i am writing the blog for last weeks show!

What do you expect from the best radio show in the world, commitment? dedication? fuck that, i have been partying like a teenager for my 30th. Thats right folks you read that correctly, I, Tristan have reached the magical 30 and you'll never guess what has changed........... nothing!

Now both of us are over the age of 30, you may think we'll calm down, stop living life like it needs a drink, but alas fair readers that aint for us!

As far as the show went, i had a blast, lots of goood tunes, some hilarious (to us anyway) moments, a couple of excellent dim sims and a broken audio device made for an interesting show that kept us on our toes, but on our toes is where we do our best work!

Show 68: Doomestic Disputes

Yes its that time of year again Doomsday is upon us this weekend, but before we get into that we have some seriously fun new stuff from poseidotica these guys are full on freakout awesome and worth checking, Desert wizards, surprisingly not what i expected going by the name, but new and awesome all the same so they both made to the top of the best new tunes around this week so are well worth listening to... Choegaze post rock walll of guitar face planting itself out of your stereo and into every oriface of your being, alcest are in town, supported by heirs if your there your gonna enjoy but for those needing a certain amount of more sludge in thier diet get yourself to the weekend melbourne becomes a doom haven with massive day/night of gbands at the NSC on saturday and a huge arvo at the tote on sunday, definitely worth checking Cough, the main US imports for this years festival playing a headline slot at both nights... will we be hardcore enough to do both... only time will tell but considering last years destroyed me for a good few days i think i'll probably wuss out on the tote gig, which is a shame, as are all fresh non doomsday bands appearing, apart from cough, so hopefully the crowd can resurface from a long day of boozing and hit up the tote for a good time not a long time finishing at 10:30... odd

anyway im gonna go eatr something, thune in this week for a tristan Birthday special!!!!!!!!!!!

Show 67: Six Demon Bag

So back to your regular programming after a couple of mixed up weeks there, hope you enjoyed your coz hiatus as you wont be getting another one for a while, and im pretty excited with some fresh moves to help us through this weary second year of broadcasting that we are now in...

but anyway lets talk about some music real quick. new radio moscow is kick arse, no excuses for any bands that seem to dwindle on thier brand of awesome music when you see these guys produce a third album that packs just as or maybe an even greater punch as thier earlier efforts, check it out, we gave you a double dose tonight just to ram it home,

but something special is a brewing in melbourne this weekend with heaps of quality dudes playing we gave a decent helping of the variety out there this weekend, and as slack as i was i managed to get to the mushroom giant gig which was mighty impressive and those guys are still writing with some new material, but thier shows are great fun where they really put a bit of effort into the visuals with a great series of projections that seem to mix with almost perfectly with the riffs and allow you to have an all round treat to the senses at the gigs of the shroom giants... big apologies for the SunSheperd gig, i got lost in a bottle of Gin and didnt find my way out until the other side of the weekend, but met a crazy guy called gordon who showed me the not so true meaning of suttle drunkeness which isnt trying to shred harry belafonte vinyls into a glorious meld with the king, anyway, nuff of that night said, leave it for the horrified highly moral sober onlookers to explain i think.

Yeah webber'd up a bork belly stuffed with a whole rosemary bush, a few bulbs of garlic and 600grams of bacon..... was alright, pretty sure no-one got sick so its a win.

and the 3MDR MurDeR radio triple homicide with three killer tracks tonight went out to the kyuss loving chick who was chopping up some firewood for us last weekend, sexy tattooed up woman wielding an Axe and talking about StonerRock is defintely worthy of a shoutout!!

So if you like comus, check out steeleye span, and new colour haze, now that issomething worthy of leaving to play in the CD player to cruise home early listening to, yes, sad indeed, we're that bad we are having to be our own audience....

Show 66: Is It The Radio, Radio, Makin The Freaks Freakout?

Ok so no Coz this week, as the show wound up he was takin to the stage of the Espy basement to show St.kilda how its done! Following them was the almighty Van Cleef and i bet that Riff Fist provided a hard act to follow.

Not to diminish the excellence that is Van Cleef, but we here at the official pilot the dune blog are a little biased towards the fist!

Twas great havin Claire (le Choward) in the studio for the show tonight, not only for her excellent taste in tunes and soup, but for the company she provided, because yeah, just between you and me internett, the idea of doing a show solo was freaking me the fuck out!

Hope you all enjoyed the Post Rock vibe the start of the show had. When you get excellent new tracks from Kerreta & Laura THEN you have Mono in town this week & These Hands Could Separate The Sky playing @ The Grace Darling on Sat night, Post Rock seems like a valid option.

Ok people, stay wonderful, stay safe and above all, avoid hangovers by staying drunk!

Van Cleef - Dalek Gulch
These Hands Could Separate The Sky - Patient Is The Sea

Show 65: I Believe There's A Storm A Brewin', Nine Crows At Nine O'Clock Nye!

Yep so i'm told by cezza, aparently Thor just heard about how bad his film is, Or maybe it's Zeus in his pain and sadness at hearing his Defacto Hera had an sad untimely passing.... RIP, cheers to case.

Either way we missed out on bringing you our final clutch show of the month, A show with more twists and turns than ever before was planned and set out perfectly.... If you've ever had the pleasure of listening you'd doubt that to be true, and you'd possibly be right.... but i can kinda say that coz it never got to happen and you will never know...

Well tonights show was cancelled due to the storms incase you didnt know.... but one good thing came out of it, i got to head back early to the Dan O'connel in time for thier $1 tacos, and yep they were as good as they sound, cheap and nasty yet bloody awesome for a dollar, unfortunately the shells were well under done and were like yuck rubber, seriously aint that hard to toast up a bloody taco shell, you just need a "pincher" some dude to grab the corner of each heated batch and give it a squueze to see if its bendy or crispy, i'll even do it, for a small taco fee of course, but half arsed tacos aren't something i like to be around so thier already losing.... also the bean sauce or frijoles lacked spice and life and the salsa on top was just stuff out of a home brand tin of crushed tomatos... or so it seemeed, and the cheese, was that mozzerralla or tasty or what, next time try some goat flavour buddy it'll help a lot.... seriously spider mate, what are ya doing out there.... anyway an extra two bucks for a mini side dish of jalepenos was welll required and made into something a lot better.... And you thought you'd escape a kitchen review this week huh?

But yeah at least next week we will have some more super special new stuff for you, In the mean time ready set go... you got Riff Fist coming at ya with an extra 5 monutes to add to our set, shall we bring you a new song possibly, or just more killer guitar solo battles between myself and Mr. Purerockcasey.... well, you will have to come along and find out!

Thursday 9 O'Clock At the Espy Basement in StKilda, hopefully we can destroy the night for whatever "performers" hope to be playing in the main room upstairs by going to 11 on the orange and sinking the floor so they are magically teleported into a room of pure awesome riff fisting glory.... hope to see you all there, tune to the radio for the first half and then cruise down with it pumping in the taxi for the perfect warm up to the night....

Show 64: Destiny's Porch Sale

Great show this week where we had it all with new sounds of cave and the local faves the sand pebbles touring at the mo, to the pschyed out journey that is moon duo and damn wolfy and the bat cubs, always seems to surprise with thier great talents.

but we heralded the arrival of equality and human rights in tasmania with a bit of rainbow chasing by sheavy, off the very cool album electric sleep, definitely a must listen album for anyone, took me a while to discover but dang its good.

into a segment i probably should've thought more about where we talk about drinks being spiked and so on, as it seems to be a bit full on lately and have heard of it happenning to a few dudes i know as well as myself, and i mean i probably wouldn't have minded so much and still taken it if the dudes had of asked me first,,,, but its just a bit rude getting someone off thier faces nuts without asking permission, most would probably say yes i would think, and if they wouldn't want to get wasted then are they really your type of person anyway mr. spiker drinkerer...

so yeah we welcome summer with a bit of hendrix, i know its kinda a right of passage here at 3mdr to play a hendrix track regularily but by my reckonning this is only our third time in a shitload of shoes so i'd say good on us for managing to not conform to the masses that can't comprehend that its all blues it doesn't need to have a freaking predictable boring structure and melody to be blues, so stop calling us and just listen and learn ya tosser

The Human Beinz where we brought out a schaffer inspired know your DIPS session, certainly a hit that we will re-visit, just remember check your percentages and dont get ripped on an avocado dip that only has 8% avocado and 90 odd% cream cheese. that is ridiculous and as frivilous as it is , it is still right up today tonights alley for an expose into the dips that you think your buying but really your poisoning your children with false labelling and genetically modified yum, and dont get me started on salsa's!

And did you know REM broke up , so ... since.....
they wrote the song for Kaufman film Man on the Moon starring Jim carrey,
Jim carrey did cable guy with matthew broderick,
matthew broderick did the collossal film godzilla
and godzilla is japenese and you know what else is japanese........ MONO

and there you have it six (or whatever) degrees of seperation from REM to mono. it can be done, and we have a heap better band to end up playuing you,,,, who are is btw touring in two weeks, WITH a 21 piece orchestra! go get your tickets, that is unless your going to see booker T like me, in which case try and suss out some times so we can do both, Yes!!

No Anchor came down from brisbane to play three gigs in melbourne and we are so lame and didn't got to any of them, fingers crossed there is more visits asa that was a sad day of effort from us here, although i did discover the joys of flogging crap vinyls and books to trendy kids of fitzroy! suckers will pay 5 to 10 bucks for stuff that i'd be lucky to flog for a buck at a hills garage sale, i guess you could call it a boutique vintage garage sale like those shops that are just glorified op shops for the cool kids who have never heard of the goodies, kyuss or Melbourne Bitter, yep i can be an up myself wanker to these subverts of modern pop culture who just seem to miss it. doubt they will ever discover this blog , prob due to its lack of terms like, "find those cool glasses with thick black rims" "50 cent is he really a gangsta" "designer label jeans from catwalk to me" and "how i can be australias next top model", ah shit now thats done it....

and clutch , this week we had a listen to pure rock fury and blast tyrant squeezed in some of our faves for a decent showing of these mighty men of the south and their kick arse brand of rock'n'roll, one more week to go and its all over so check us out next week. 10001110101

Show 63: Hey Hey Now, Whats That Smell?

This show was the begginnning of something special , i went to a work function on the friday straight after, spent all night drinking free G&T's and playing pool, then i made it out to see the shaolin afronaughts, off my tits and hade a kickin arse boogie time, note to all haunters of johnson st, laundry is more down hill than south, so avoid getting any mixers there with syrupy flat coke that did well to kill the flow and make this funk warrior have colour up carlton north with some recycled canapes.... nothing to with the free g and t's they were good to me, for the most part.

Then Satruday scored a feed at the most bullshit bar in melbourne young and jacksons who i do not recommend anyone go to, then on to the melbourne ghost tour, which was really pretty ordinary and needed a much more mundane title that matched what it was really putting out there, pherhaps something like, follow a b-grade celebrity around melbourne while trying to do the dodgy on some bars and by a beer to quickly scoot back out and continue the "tour"

then in the end saw Syl Johnson, yep, cant say much more than it was a brilliant show and hope that the melbourne funk soul curse is broken as that dude needs to share those talents some more...

yeah a pretty funked up weekend really, good to have a bit of difference now and then, we also had some amazing cooking this week with lasnachos avocado and goat awesome, more to come. yey more clutch month

Show 62: Eggy Bread > French Toast

Dang wrote a description and somehow lost it so can't be stuffed repeating my words, just like the actual radio show, no rehearsals, no re-enactments, no quality....

anyway just wanted to say still that we are looking forward to Syl Johnson playing this coming weekend after the announcement of his heart attack setting the gig back a week, so will unfortunately miss out on a ghost tour of old melbourne gaol, sounded cool but reckon this coming sat at the hifi be cooler,,, we hope the inspiration for the gig was given by playing a dose of ex blues and soul legends that have carked it just after an aussie tour, so setting the scene that this could be it.... not like, "hey Syl, you gonna die if you give us a show" would hate to scare him off but, you know, just more of a crazy cat person yelling shit from a roof to get people excited at the impending sounds.... same could apply for booker T so get on it dudes

So DOOMSDAY has been officially announced, may have to get it all happenning with a doomed up show next week, always an exticting month october... and tickets on sale in december soon for Roadburn 2012, this years lineup promises to be a real treat for those worsippers of the riff of sleep, and as such we may have to give you a journey along the wrath of dopesmoker to hail the celebration of their return,,,, but that will all come in time....

And this month whats exciting is our Clutch especial' rock fest as we journey through the back catalogue of a band that has come a pretty darn long way in recent years to be a dominant force in the music scene with repeated back to back tours to australia in recent years, we aint complainin! of course the best show was no doubt the very first double over one weekend at the corner, which i have yet to see them top, but im sure i will one day,

Show 59: I Got Nothin

Wow pretty rockin night, good music not that thats something new but feels good coming back from the studio after spending 2 hours listening to some amazing tunes, felt good to finally play slabdragger, even though we are still yet to hear the whole song after last week was played at the end to fill a bit of dead air in show transitioning and was cut short, then this week we had a minor self induced earthquake to shatter the final minute of rock from slabdragger, so this week will we give up or start again fresh with a new track, tune in to find out!

dont forget Orange Goblin vs Clutch is happenning! get your votes in for a prefferred artist to have as a focus group of the month for the big 5 shows coming up in september!

Big news breaking here first on pilot the dune with the heaviest hills gig since ever.... well possibly excluding last months visit from the Hotel Wrecking City Traders, but nonetheless a heavy fuzzy loud gig is coming our way and all the updates you will hear here first, with breaking news being that sons of the ionian sea will not be playing at RIFFGASM FEST 2011, but instead we are graced with the esteemed prescence of the Legends Of Motorsport, one of the most successful melbourne fuzzin rockin bands of the last ten years and they will be joining forces with Sun Sheppard, Dread and Riff Fist next friday the second of september, so get in by nine o'clock to see all these fantastic bands give you an injection of pure rock fury that you will be hooked on for the rest of your life!

Van Cleef are real cool and getting more airtime and gigs soon so check them out dudes, and dont forget monster magnet i reckon this will be a fair final dose of live magnet here for a while so make the most of it, Mundell or no, should still be a gooden!

Will get some good ol cookin happenning this week and hopefully some more of your fave segments will return for a great show........ ah just remembered Dead Meadow's Jason Simon is playing this thursday so hopefully you can stick around and have a listen to this weeks show then check some nice intimate acoustic tunes from the fuzzy flannel psyched riffmunger starting at 10pm at the northcote, however we hartelly endorse seeing the hills own Matt Walker supporting at 9pm. Show 58: Sixty Buck Mutton

Damnright, if anyone wants to score a butchered sheep for sixty bucks let us know, but now for what we are all really here for, unless you wound up with some dodgy business card in your pocket after a blurry night on the town and are pretty confused at the list below, then this may not be for you.... or is it what you really need in your pathway to musical enlightenment.... yep a bit up myself there, but playing songs like this with no limits unto us with programming and the like makes you feel pretty good to be doing what you do.

Brand new Weird Owl straight outta the teepee was an exciting addition this week, certainly a kick arse psych group to keep your third eye out for in the coming festivals and whatnot, fingers crossed...

oops gotta go, will write more later hopefully but if not i reckon suss out the below list for some quality stuff, had a great night seeing SOTIS and the legends of motorsport grace the stage of the tote once again, and was fun to catch up with old friends there too to remember the glory days of trashbag stonerrock at the tote

Keep an eye out for Slabdragger, will give you a dose of their newbie next week, and remember to VOTE for a focus artist next month either the big bad brits of the stonermetal underworld Orange Goblin, or the heavy southerners from the USA she spacegrassin Clutch

Show 52: One Just Like The Other

So they say, but who are they anyway, someone who doesnt know you, or someone who says the can feel what your doing but cant quite get it? or just the latest piece of shit to be led aside by their own ignorant discoursions and think they know what makes the world goes round and whatever gravity you pull doesnt weight to shit compared to the arse fuel that comes out of their mouth on a daily basis,,, well... i dont know, what are you asking me for, m ore booze i say and the answer will present itself, but what the fuck are you meant to do about it , being painted into a corner by your own discoursions you need to rise up and find a record player and let your track selections light the way, but what if its busted and no matter what you do, switching the needle, clicking the button extra hard and turning it on and off, nothing will will fix it and instead of giving the people what they want/need a dose of heavy gauge vinyl printed in the golden years of heavy fuzzy rock'n'roll you have to settle for an impromptu playlist from the ever massive vault of tracks that is stowed on the mp3 in the mighty foobar, no not fubar, thats incorrect its foobar, we are professionals goddammit, not some skinnywinking fartknockers from an earlier timeslot on another station, only the best last minute selections shall you find on the dune, and so i digress...

DO you have any idea how many bands are called brutus, i tried to reserach these guys and came up with a shyzenload in the end i cant remember which country was the one we cranked, but i reckon it was probably the best one you could find,,,, oh me oh my how good riffin was that, check them out by using the track name as the guiding tool and get into them, really good stuff right there if you ask my big toe/

am pretty drunk right now, tried my best to get into the espy to see deep street soul but to no avail, goddammit i wish i could blame the bouncers and their steel cap hating haircuts, but i did come prepared this time with sneakers.... for sneaking, but eneded up being at a bar in north melbourne just up on errrol st from the corner of victoria, and i was walking past trying to make my way south and heard the mighty tones of sabbath being cranked and thought i cant just walk past a bar of such a mighty DJ and will give them the respect they deserve by sharing a beer with me, stubby of melbs for 5 bucks, pretty good in this day and age i reckon, so i stuck it out in there for a few rounds and soon realised midway through war pigs that it was somesort of sabbication niught and it would continue for a while yet so i sucked it up and rocked to the opening of paranoid and decided that was good enough exit music and walked out beer in hand fist in other, destination espy. awaiting the tram i noticed a busker playing some creedance so i approcahed to enjoy the brew and a bit of tunes when i hear the crunching sound of the number 57 tram rumbling past, oh no, now your fucked, pretty sure thats the last train or tram or whatever and then you know you got a journey ahead of you, sadly the certainty arose i would miss my fabled esy gig , but maybe it was for the best, maybe the gods intervened unto my quest for st kilda destruction and swayed my path towards a hopefully more grandiose 2am pony adventure... but pony was dead and realised options were hitting an all time low,

so anyway you'll never guess what happenned next?!?!?!?

and then a few hours later i find myself here writing a blog, wowjesuscrikey such an amazing finale ot a night, you just never know what gonna happen when you just allow the wind and the night to take you away, one day i will get the muster to describe to an unwilling listener but that day is not today....

this is normally the part where i talk about the show but you can see it for yourself below, let us know if you'd like a free hook up to an audio stream of out programming for legal over the net listeing that we wont go to jail for, or worse still, get kicked off air and kill the greatest radio station known to man, and the worst blog know to man too.

Show 50: Holy Shit Batman!

A bevvy of new tunes this week and some great gigs over the weekend to prelude with some cracker tunes for your thursday night. Adelaideans VanCleef are providing the goods and have renewed my faith in what that city has to offer after a weekend of being stranded in the adelaide abyss, there was a highlight of being able to put a channel Ten reporter in his place of the lowly scum journalism that he is aspiring to, then to spite me these poison tongue dictators of popular culture on commercial television stole my funny taking the piss out of the town and volcano lines to use for their own intro's and then edited down my rant to be that of a loser ignorant stoner, now thanks a lot for that channel ten but i take offence to being portrayed as ignorant, at least i think i do, no what am i saying of course i do, but fuck it nothing really matters although it did add a fair bit of fuel for the show this week, with cooking and various other means looked into to get out of town, albeit drab for the average listener to hear but i reckon john and kurt would jump at turning it into a screenplay called escape from adelaide - snakes not on a plane... , aha now take that! as if someone whos ignorant wouldn't come up with that brilliant crossover or maybe it would take someone whos igonorant to get there in the firstplace.... but anyway, you got it right?>,,,, right? think you can find it at Monday 13th June episode of 7pm project if interested (It's at the end of the first segment).

I spoke to someone after the gig of ruins alone and captain kickarse and the awesomes and other great melb acts and got nothing but rave reviews, was pretty dissapointed that i bailed on it to spend the night covered in fake blood and getting my throat sliced open repeatedly, but you gotta make the most of it when a Hi Def camera is yours to utilise for the night, more explanation of this will follow soon hopefully..... stay tuned

Dont you just wanna kick rod stewart in his fat nose then shove your steel caps all around inside his mouth until all his gold fillings become embedded into the leather and you get yourself a nice brand new pair shiny goldcap shoes???

Anyway played some early stewart in the faces before he found the 80's and became a total dick, then moved on to being a sinatra wannabe and then married some chick 44 years younger than him! alright maybe that is kinda rock'n'roll, but he aint so he can go get stuffed.

The mammoth Caveman of bass Scott Reader has been getting his hand in on producing some fine bands of late and the newest production effort is a great example of fresh talent with a steady calisced up hand guiding them to greatness, Automatic animal are just that, and we filled it out with a couple of others from scott readers library of producing credits to make it this weeks 3MDR - Murder Radio, triple homicide, three killer tracks!

and there were heaps more great topics discussed but to round out the blog explain the following playlist, i had my dogs sitting at home hearing their masters voice in stereo all night so to quell their freaking outness of how i managed to get inside the speakers we cranked some doggy tunes to keep them happy...

And another big thanks to the highschool Janitors for doing yet another synched recording of a brand new track from the patch based on a topic given at the shows beginning and gotten to us before its end, always good to get the freshest of music straight from the strings and skins to your radio speakers, thanks again to all and see ya next week

Show 49: Zombie Octopus Slayer

An off the cuff show but sadly when we don't get organised you the listener suffer with dead air and in this case metallica, but it was all a part of the months theme, and unfortunate cueing of tapes, where we discussed another band that used to be good and as time has grown they have somehow gotten worse. feel free to submit requests for next weeks artist where we play some quality older shit for nostalgia before they managed to die in the arse, if your thinking QOTSA then your on the right track, so get your ideas in dudes.

alright im filling in the story to this blog a little late this week as after our show i went out west to the land of South Australia, spent a few days on a farm trying to encourage chickens to lay eggs, and drove a tractor and ate a lot of meat, as you do on a farm i guess, but then came back to not so radelaide and found out about another fucking volcano blowing its top and fucking up all flights in and out of adelaide so here i am stranded in the boringest city you could imagine, spose it wouldnt be so bad if it was summer but its cold and if it wasn't for coopers being rife i would be going stir crazy over here... Minimum chips is 4 bucks and when they say minimum they mean it, a shitty tiny brown bag and dont even think about dimmy's... they charge over a dollar for your regular run of the mill cat'n'rat brand of dimsim i can't even get my hands on some descent south melbourne buck fifty efforts, though over here it would be $3 i reckon, but on a side issue, as if you didnt think there would be one, i reckon people should stop having a go at the sth melb dimmies, aparently theres a big uproar over the son of the guy making them on the cheap now and they aren't any good, but i guarantee you wont find a better one anywhere else, not even bell st mall heidelberg, in fact stay well away from bell st mall heidelberg, not a good place... anyway to get back on track after that, whatever that was, yes I went away for weekend and missed some seriously good gigs, thats two weeks in a row i have bummed out on some weekend gigs, HOSS are on the scene again and in their honour we played a 3MDR MurDeR radio, triple Homicide of 3 killer tracks, and the Nation Blue break up reunite welcome back fifteen year anniversay tour, check their myspace for the funniest promo vid EVER!!... but on top of that the mighty river of snakes are still breaking through onto the melbourne scene and were nice enough to send us their 2 track 7 inch, (burnt onto CD...) we must be a somewhat official professional show these days to be getting bands sending us their shit, and not to mention the shows closer the Highschool Janitors doing a hour and a half recording during our show and forwarding the track for a play at the very end, it doesn't get more live and interactive than this, so tune in next week for another installment from the Hills very own, Micawber Tavern Destroying Janitors...

Cooked up a crazy Macgyver Meal this week with some ginger, black bean, fish sauce, oytster sauce, lemon, oil, worchestichire marinated octopus, wasn't the best thing i have ever eaten but worth doing to see some freaky undead octopus action in a fry-pan, not for the un-romero hearted...

New live album by the Melvins was cool, i hope to listen to more of it this week, and special cudos goes out to all who skipped Iron Maiden to see the Melvins at soundwave this year, was one of the best sets of the day..

And it was International Slayer Day, a day for all metal heads, i hope you celebrated

Show 48: People People's People People's People's

New chunky goodness was played this week with a short dedication to local live two pieces and we began pilot the june month of bands that started awesome and got horribly shit almost instantly after fame it them with some cool tunes from aerosmith. We know there is heaps of potentials for this but we only offer the creed of selection to those that carried the true originality and inspiration to then go on to Label fuelled giving up on what the sould of rock'n'roll is about so stay tuned for next weeks surprise shitkicker for the month

Macgyver meal this week for anyone interested was an accidental use of Johnny walker in a fry pan instead of oil, so an attempt was made to make the most of it and fry an egg to have a real mans scotch egg. came up alright and if you leave the yolk a bit runny you do get a nice warm viscous yolky scotch flavour that would make any alco perk up at brekky time

but it was a real tough week here at the june with more self discovery than a trashy 90's film, but we came out on top and all we have to say is people's people people's and get the fuck up and suck up your nuts so their ready for another kicking, coz thats what life has on offer for us all, yep even chicks, but fuck it, hopefully i'll be stronger for it, its hard to be honest with yourself sometimes and come out of your perfect fantasy world and hold off on being a melloncollie piece of meat, but if you can do it then congrats and hopefully find something bigger and better on the next groove of lifes giant record....... some would say i've gone retarded and shit and pretty boring and hopefully the dune will re-discover its passion for rock, and they'd be right. and hopefully its just around the corner on another mountain top where grass is greener and the chicks are leaner, nah just looking for a rhyming word there, prob not a good choice coinsidering things, but whats blurted in this blog always stays , no editorialising, not because we're purists more because we are lazy and know if you interrupt the flow then it be losin its mojo. yep thats right more inexcusable rhyming no escape unless you close the page but fuck it i don't care, we already got your hit and now we passed 2000 , yeah thats right suck on that mr. mattty boom batty and your rants from the ranch,,, sitting pretty at 1,816 or some lame less than 2000 figure, baahahaha.

Show 47: San Fran Disco

'tubes are glowing' was the theme for this weeks awesome rocking tunes as we hailed the arrival of a mighty 200 Watts of valve endowed bass goodness to our lives, it always feels good when you come out of the studios after playing a bunch of awesome tracks and you just know it was a brilliant night,m the only thing it lacked was a macgyver meal segment with my wo'flat taco recipe which i can bring you next week hopefully, and that of course means more wo fat which is never a bad thing, wouldn't you agree?

The hannah barbarians, a commune of 6 dudes sharing a house and the same taste in music with skills to boot can only lead to great musical works and these guys are no exception, after the success of a three state tour!!! they have produced their first full studio release which they are generous to have available through bandcamp, another band whose utilising the coolness of bandcamp to get their stuff out there for free is Wizard Eye, these dudes are nothing but fuzzyawesome so follow the trail of orc stain and heavy riff goodness to their free download for your listening pleassure my friends...

once again we have some kick arse gigs this weekend one of note would be at the tote on sunday for winterun, Molten Duke Ranch and the Sons of the ionion sea with catfish voodoo in support, get down at 5pm for a free barbeque before the monster night ahead!!!!

And in we go to the johnny bracket, it was my old mans birthday today so wanted to give him some tunes and especially as he's in sanfrancisco streaming our show live searching for El Dorado in a Motel 6 listening and rocking out with some birthday booze, which always tastes sweeter.... And we got a text asking for some american stuff which of course was a great excuse to tee up some live colourhaze.

Special thanks to Francis with wolves for a few more vinyl delicacies, cheers to dixons for taking my lame old CD's of screaming jets and pearl Jam and letting me trade in to get some James Brown Vinyl and of course to purerockcasey for sorting us with some tunes and me with some heavy awesome orange 200 watt valve love blowing out through 8 speakers of love we brought you some mighty wo fat.

Show 46: Dog Salami & Liberal Party Jerks

New Earthless and vocals reminiscent of their amazing cover cherry red, though rarely heard in earthless' music was a healthy compliment to their style of kickarsenessesness and we look forward to more rockin earthless with rockin vocals, why not, i mean how come a lot of other bands can't seem to get it right, you know what i mean dont ya, the way it just gets so rocking and grooving and fuzzy sexiness then all of the sudden some dooche starts singing about his tiny dick and how daddy helped produce his album and all of the sudden its gone, we have reached that point of it no longer being in the branding of the monster that is stonerrock and its almost changes the whole tone of the band, you no longer appreciate what was done in the instrumental opening aqnd it now feels like a generic rock progression with no licks trips or tones to keep it crazyawesome, and you realise your listening to triple J. Anyway i kinda lost what my point was here, ah fuckit, so what did we talk about this week. we got into some soulful vniyl which is always fun to spin but a bit tricky when doing radio and only having the one turntable, so some quick flipping of frisbees was required, whilst all were treated with the respect they deserved, and let it be said don covay is pretty fuckin cool, never really knew much of the guy till we came across his tasty album and it was pure entertainment.

I cant believe we voted that dipshit bailleau into leadership, he's a complete knob jockey cocksnot slurpin doorstop. thats all i have to say about that, you know who you are thats responsible for this and you should be ashamed, but then again those wise enough to venture to this page i would doubt are of the dickhead persuasion so never mind. and now tony abbots aparently ahead and next in line for the top job, what the hells going on i ask??

Back to what this show should be about and thats the music, we got the chance to play some cool new aussie artists this week and highly suggest checking them out if you ever see thunderous sun-shepard or Yis or winterrun in town and the boys from NSW known as AVER provide some very nice tunes for us and we await their decent upon the melbourne scene with beer'ed breath.

can't forget this weeks 3mdr, murder radio, triple homicide with 3 killer tracks, this week they all went out to the world of irresponsible in a world of their own retarded trophywhores who enjoy their tunnel vision while driving these 4WD that are purely built for road use and have never been into 4WD mode and so thus they have no need/requirement/purpose other than to harm injur and kill other people on the road and their property. yep , that'll do

and black angels, hell yeah, i'm gonna sort mine next week, fingers crossed theres still some left, but get your tickets dudes, click the link below....

And stay away from salami, not only is it made from dogs, but all processed meats and red meats in general have finally been irrefutably linked to Bowel Cancer just this last week, (google itfor you know it to be true) but hows that for an informative blog,,,, this just got real fuckers.

yeah something about all the crap that goes into those salamis, i mean you get these mediterranean mofos sitting on a hill counting their sheep eating fancy cheeses and all sorts of salamis pastramis and dolmadis and living till 99 but thats beacuse they just make it up and eat it fresh from the cows stomachlining sacks that they wrap it in, but read the wrappers of what they put in the shit in the supermarkets to make it last that long, this is the stuff that the bloody cockroaches will have to eat after nucleear fallout its that processed with shit! its probably the only way we can inevitably kill the cockroaches, with bowelcancer from the shitty surviving salami's..... do they even have bowels, and from what i know they are pretty good little dudes actually, they eat up dust and dont deserve the reputation they got endowed with from shitty films like starship troopers 2 and 3, yes go the original... would you like to know more?..... no good? nope... napoleon? nup no good..

yeah not good all round really... eat fresh kills thats my motto, but i reckon my classic pizzas will still have to have a bit of the old Don Hot for that tang factor that you just cant do without fuckyeah now i'm hankering for some wheat free hot out of the oven bowlcancer with goatscheese mm mmm.

btw cheers to the olds on thier USA adventure, hope your kickin it on route 66!!

Show 44: Boogie Fever

Yes thats right Boogie 5 has been and gone, sadly i didn't get to give it a full well desevered round up during the show until a rushed bit at the end, but let me run through some of the highlights and lowlights for y'all now....

firstly this is the new age of awesome festival honky goodness, limited ticket sales (750), controlled burning of bonfires, well intended yet sadly failed attempts to control in-approproate consumption of alcohol.... they had in the performing area a no byo policy which was strongly abided through the festivals first night until i saw others swigging from some fine alumuinium beverage holders and i thought damnright im getting in on that, so it was funny then how they would ask you to ditch any cans your carrying but not look in your eski as i blatantly walked through with with an aresenal of soycasion and mary mixers and cans of the good stuff, the smart choice was to pour your drinks into a cup as by day three security had had enough of the flagrant disregard for the festivals main money earner being the bars and would ask people to pour their drinks out. this i realised later was my being the creature of my own destruction by taking free reign of the multitude of alcoholic possibilities and marinating my liver in whatever poison i could fit into a plastic bottle is not the best of ideas, what followed was one of the worst recovery weeks of my life, but it was all amazing and special while there, just the ride home was a bit rough.... sorry for the spew callum. did i mention the festival has like a giant ski lodge/chalet, that everyone has access to! with a proper restuarant and bar and ballroom and massive balcony overlooking the stage area, and proper toilets with plumbing, which although appeared not to have been cleaned since festival opening were still awesome to have as a shitting sanctuary.
but there is still the shit annoying side of the festival that is always going to be prevelant to the eyes of those who have walked the hallowed halls of such grandiose loud nights at the 013 in tilburg for the might of roadburn and that is the wussy lameness of the crowd, the ditzy iPhone waving, intimidated by looking out of place to stand close to the stage nogging your head and tapping your foot partygoer, i tried to break the ice in this regard for many a troubadour of an act that wanted to set the rock free at this festival but it was without hope, apologies go out to matt sonic and the rope boys, even smoke machine, who out of frustration took the rock to the people during their Stevie Wright, Evie revue' but alas i have wandered into a mono conversational corner of which i am now lost and confused.
So in summary the festival was fantastic, the crowd coulda been a bit looser, the organizers could have let me smash some box aeroplane dudes in the head, the priced booze coulda been a little bit easier on the wallet, but this is what it should be about a good posse of bro's getting your shit together and going to a festival with only 700 others in presence for four days of partying, the weather was the best we could have hoped for , except at night it was fucking freezing, but seriously it kicked arse and hopefully next year we can get a few more of melbournes stoner doom bands there and make the music 100 times better and inevitably if we do that the crowd will be heaps better and then we are on our way to an amazing aussie roadburn which i would like to call rooburn.... maybe not, but it would be good eatin on that bonfire i reckon......

what else happenned, yeah clare came in to talk roadburn roundup, that was awesome and i cant do it justice, i suggest looking at her photos on facebook if you can hook her up through us, i reckon she would have a shit load, she does a lot of that kinda stuff.

HOLY FUCK!!!! we have KYUSS in one more week, tune in next weeks show for some of my most favourite and underplayed kyuss tracks and i will try and find some of their playlists from recent shows so i can give you a taste of the beginning of whats about to happen....

Show 34: Gravity 1 Coz 0

Very cool show this week, entertaining from our end anyway! and an excuse to play some P.Funk is always good especially when they are touring for Blues Fest this year. yes thats right!!! not sure of the line-up but defo George Clinton will be there so hopefully most of the clan will be in tow...

Bit of Black Mountainpedition was enjoyed in celebration of them rocking richmond this monday night. Still tickets available too so make sure you get along to it, twice in almost as many years so make sure you don't miss it this time!

Bit of a sad chair bracket followed with a story you will have to email us and ask for an audio stream of as it was told so badly the first time, that i doubt it will even pass for humorous on here. but a good few tracks came out of it anyway for this weeks 3MDR, MurDeR radio, triple homicide. Yes i Love it!

The Yawning Man journey is coming to a close with an awesome treat of the full Vinyl EP of Pot Head, and a journey into other Arce fuelled sound machines being Ten East, very cool stuff.

Sadly i Bailed on a presenting a Macgyver Meal this week and our attempts to do a movie review were thunderously ruled out by wanting to play quality rock'n'Roll.

But looking forward to next week for more of the Magnificence....

OH YEAH ALMOST FORGOT, BUT GUESS WHAT.... I GOT MYSELF A BACKSTAGE PASS TO MAIDEN!! SO WHO KNOWS MAYBE A DRUNKEN DODGY SECRET RECORDING WILL BE PLAYED OFF MY PHONE OF ME DOING LINES WITH THE MAIDEN BOYS OFF A GROUPIES TITS OR SOMETHING EQUALLY AS ROCKING.

Show 32: Rip 'n' Dip

Wow great way to start the show with the awesome budd super new release from their album launch on the weekend with extra special thanks to em for letting me borrow it to play on the show, definitely an awesome band writing awesome music and felt pretty good to get into it straight up.

Bit of a disclaimer should go out to pushing the Macgyver Meal segment forward this week, we didn't mean to bring doubt to the quality of chips you can obtain at the emerald chippy and we apologise if this was impression given to our humble bretheren of the deep fryer. But the segment went on early with the special guest this time being Bealy from our preceeding show roundabout. Many ins and outs were discussed on what it really means to order minimum chips and what you walk away with 6 minutes later, to chicken salt or not, to pay 30 cents for a pissy little drop of dead horse or head over the road to the IGA and score a bottle for a buck 50 or better still pack your own, coz if your anything like me you are highly likely to have a minimum chips moment any day of the week and your morals are that of the 80's where you expect as much watered down redness as you like sprayed all over your chips from some old greek guy called Nontas, all without payment!
but im straying from my point here, surprise surprise, so what i recommend is hitting up maccas for some free sauce sachets, you might as well get something out of that giant bullshit corporation and, ah fuckit im gonna stay away from that tangent just so i can finally get this retarded idea of sharing my tightarseness tomato sauce tales with you all.... so yeah stock the glove box with maccas frebees, leave a few in your bag coz you never know. But one super crazy item that i wrongly assumed to be the holy grail of on the go tomatosauceahoilics is the rip and dip canned tomato sauce, a catchy name on a catchy can, really cool things to keep on you for all the options it provides, you can dip shit and you can pour it onto shit, fucking brilliant eh! but in the end they are pretty useless if you cant even open the things up.
one thing that was good about the deep fryer friends in emerald is that i walked in ordered my chips and the dude saw my hunger and my rush and banged them on before i even had to think about being pissed off that he was going to fruit around with the business end of our transaction!
so heres the facts - PROS: quick cooking, fat chips and reasonable portion i suppose. CONS: Low grade crispiness, no real starchy flavour in the spuds and No free sauce. so in the end it was a hard call but enought of this shit, trust me the rest of the show got better!

A cool excuse to play Holy Fuck with their tour of melbourne happenning tonight and on the weekend ahead, and we happilly paired them up with maserati off their 2009 offerings. Primal Scream wooohooo no tools!

using current wild weather as inspirations for this weeks 3MDR, 3 MurDeR radio triple homicide of 3 killer tracks from 3 stoner rock heavyweights following the windy theme. and gave us a chance to nut out the difference between a hurricane and a cyclone , its a hemisphere thing and they spin in different directions.... we think, anyway, its not just that ones a girl and ones a boy.

The guys from Grifter (UK), tracked us down and hooked us up with a free download of their EP, brilliant it is, some really cool new stoner rock and we look forwward to playing more tracks next week, check them out and look for the ep on bandcamp.

House of a thousand 80's film review was this week the return of the living dead part 2, given more confused discussion than it deserved, and supported by some grouse zombie tunes that shoulc have replaced whoever the fool was that decided they should go shit 80's electro pop instead of awesome 80's rock of the misfits and vitus.

We were pretty happy to be back doing a journey through a fabulous artist each month and this time we chose the iconic yawning man, with three tracks off the original 1986 desert session jams, sadly not the best quality but one of which many would recognise as being done healthy justice by the mighty kyuss, look forward to more yawning man this week hopefully a bit earlier in the show so we can give ourselves the time needed to discuss what this band did for developing the desert scene and what came from the influencial riffs they rocked in the early years in the califronian desert and working our way up to what they are still doing today with the best lineup yet some might say.

enough of my rambling, we finished with a melbourne double of two great bands doing great things for the local scene. check them out Hotel Wrecking City Traders and Swidgen, where ever you see it written you must make it, there willl be loud heavy original greatness

Show 31: Invasion Day Blues

What better way to start a show of all aussie tunes off than with the less popular but far more awesome band of wollongong wowsers of the mighty riff thumlock. it was so awesomely apt that we also finished the show up with more thumlock, but here i am getting ahead of myself. so i digress, we were very happy to play another taste of shpongle in reminiscence of last weekends rainbow serpent festival, which from all reports will struggle to meet the bar now set so high in future years. but a treat for all this weekend is budd's album launch at the tote. tune in next week for a full review and for some brand new tracks from their fresh release! Another tune that has been sitting in the want to play pile and this week we finally got around to it with the sand pebbles and my favourite track of theirs or pherhaps most recogniseable in honour of them being awesome aussie ( melbourne) musos, but also playing a benefit gig for RRR's the ghost thats on this monday night! check it out via www.rrr.org.au.

Too much talk of the great tunes we were playing really limited our list and so i'd expect there to be a few treats coming up next week, but thats half the fun hey, playing good shit then talking about how good it was, especially when its all home grown you feel a bit more proud and want to share this quality stuff to listeners overseas in greater detail, but i said something about digressing earlier so i should keep the ramblin a tamblin'

to go with our great lineup of aussie rock'n'roll we had our macgyver meal this week be nothing better than a half arsed barbeque segment, with ideas for cooking dead animal on a flame grill, yep that about sums that about, was pretty lacklustre in my department but saved by tristans recipe from the mighty judge of belgrave for a tasty barbeque pork in a Cider marinade and barbeque sauce, not sure if that was in there, but of course you have to have some sauce on top otherwise it just aint right.

Anyway the rock prevailed and we reached the end with a decent little swell of a list under us.

proud as always we were happy to give you a great soundtrack to an invasion day, sadly forgot to do a house of a thousand 80's VHS review this week but will continue to aussie it up next week with a review of the classic the big steal, feel free to watch in advance and join us in the banter if you can call it that.

heres the tunes you all should listen to and become more amazing people than you already are, if thats at all possible!!!

Thumlock - The Ornithopter
Shpongle - Dorset Perception
Budd - Pull Me Down
The Sand Pebbles - Future Proofed
Ahkmed - Ilanesia
Laura - Numbers Stations
This Is Your Captain Speaking - Lift
Buffalo - Sunrise (Come My Way)

Thumlock - Lunar Mountain Sunrise

Show 30: Rainbows, Tomatoes & Sweden....

ok so something a likttle different, here i am writing the spiel to the show on a late saturday night on a porch with a nice coopers green in hand at 3am. tonight i got on it at the tote and saw the mighty swidgen, heavy stoner doom brilliance, got in a bit late but caught king parrot who also gave a good dose of tunes to set the bowels a rumblin' , anyway pretty done right now but felt the urge to get something up here in a nicely intoxicated state and take my mind of the ringing of the ears that was earned so well.

Swidgen, fucking brilliant and have a cd on the go for ten bucks but in my state of boozed out freakdom missed the opportunity to grab a copy for the show this week but spoke to the bloodied up drummer, whose name i shamefully forget, and hopefully will still score a few tracks from via email (pilottheduneradio@gmail.com) for the show this week to treat you with what the latest top rockin band in the melbourne scene has on offer.

Also found out on this quiet saturday that the sons of the ionian sea had a gig at idgaff ton ight. bit shit that the bars promoters didn't mention anything of this on the various street press's of melbourne otherwise im sure there would have been more than one in the audience for the show.

was prety funny though with the huge crowed there was that only about 30 people were in the actual bandroom during the swidgen set! poor form, and i know im a victim of it in the past, having too gooder time to bother moving over to see what i actually paid to get into, but for few bucks sake people get in there and see some awesome tunes, spread your legs and take in the mighty riffs and let your cocles do the rest!

so enough bullshit, although i gotta say there were a few sweedish backpakers at the bar making a bit of small talk and the best music discussion i could get out of them was refused, after trying to explain a triple homicide of sweedish rock i quickly realised the futility of such a discussion and aborted with whatever grace i had left in my pocket, not much let me tell you.

so this weeks show was pretty fucking cool. as always an opening bracket of the new goodes on offer as well as getting psyched for an oz music special in annual celebration of invasion day next week by playing a bit of the great peeping tom. Also hope you enjoyed the 3mdr three killer tracks from the world of sweedish stonerrock, went for some personal and possibly lesser known faves from the mighty truckfughters dozer and lowrider! and enjoyed playing the birthday request from topher in canada of some classic sabbath.

but this week we hope to crank a bit of great doomness from clagg in celebration of their album re-launch, not sure hoe that works but should be pretty cool, as well as the legendary budd being finally by all accounts releasing an album of gutbusting fortitude on saturday at the tote, all great excuses to play some aussie tunes for the big week thats coming up just round the corner.

dont forget open mics up at scarab bar in belgrave on tuesday nights, hopefully your pilots will drag their sorry areses up there over the next few weeks to play a couple of tunes from the KOME days...

an yway enough thinking im semi interesting and writing shit. im gonna finish my brew and hopefully see hear from you all for some awesome aussie day requests this week, and yes mr. Richard stoner doom you will get the thumlock you've been asking for all this time!!!

hope your weekend was as earsplittingly productive as mine and be well. tune in for a full rainbow serpent update next week and a more sober (or so the station manager knows) review of this weekends shinnadigans!!!!
